15 or Fewer Farm-Raised Deer
Farm-Raised Deer Keeper Registration
Wisconsin Statutes and DATCP Rules require that any person engaging in the business of keeping farm-raised deer must have an annual farm-raised deer keeper registration from the department.

An annual farm-raised deer keeper registration (15 or fewer farm-raised deer that are enrolled in a CWD Herd Status Program or on a hunting ranch) expires on March 15 and is not refundable. The annual fee is $162.50.

The farm-raised deer keeper registration may be obtained by submitting a completed application and appropriate fee to DATCP.

If your herd contains white-tailed deer you MUST submit a DNR Fencing Certificate, for each location white-tailed deer are present, with your application for it to be considered complete.
  • If you have 15 or fewer farm-raised deer that are not enrolled in the CWD Herd Status Program or on a hunting ranch, and you do not intend to become CWD enrolled or a hunting ranch within the next registration year, please refer here to apply for a farm-raised deer keeper registration.
  • If you have more than 15 farm-raised deer, please refer here to apply for a farm-raised deer keeper registration.
